If your feeder hangs over a deck, a patio, or a lawn you'd like to keep, this is your collection. No-mess blends use hulled seed — sunflower hearts, chips, peanut pieces — so there's nothing to husk and nothing to drop. Birds eat every gram, nothing sprouts underneath, and you stop sweeping.
You're buying 100% edible seed, so none of it ends up as waste on the ground and you aren't paying to ship shells. It's the same reason grounds crews at golf courses and cemeteries use it — no debris on walkways, no volunteer sunflowers in managed turf.
Questions from the backyard
Will no-mess seed sprout in my garden?
No. Hulled seed has no seed coat, so it can't germinate.
Is hulled seed safe for birds?
Completely — it's the same seed, minus the part birds discard anyway. Keep it dry; a covered feeder helps.
Is it better value than regular seed?
Usually, yes. A standard blend can be up to a third shell by weight, and that third goes on the ground. Here every gram is food.
